Ramsey Library 2025 Summer Reading Program
Our 2025 Summer Reading program is here! This year’s theme is Color our World. Details can be found below regarding how the reading program and prizes work this year along with a full list of all the exciting events we have planned for the summer. You can visit our Events Page to register events. Our official kick off event is going to be on Wednesday, June 25th from 2pm to 4pm - you can RSVP for that event here. Finally, we also now have a form where you can register for our reading challenge portion of our Summer Reading program. This is the main part of our program where you can earn prizes for achieving weekly reading goals :) You can also register in-person at the library. However, if you’d like to register for our Summer Reading program online, you can do so using the BUTTON next to this section. Thanks to the Friends of the Ramsey Library for sponsoring and funding our Summer Reading program!
Sensory Kits
The library has available Sensory Kits in our children’s room that can be borrowed to take home. Sensory kits are for everyone, regardless of age or medical diagnosis.
Bright lights, noise, and busyness of various spaces can sometimes be overwhelming or uncomfortable, especially for younger individuals. Our kits have a variety of tools to help individuals experiencing overstimulation. Kits are available to borrow near our children’s room desk - just ask a staff member for help. We also have a variety of free to use sensory toys, fidget tools and other items to also use when visiting the library.
Each kit includes calming items, fidget items and communication tools such as:
Noise-reducing earmuffs, sunglasses and other sensory-minimalization tools to better control the level of light and noise
Fidget items that can act as an outlet for anxiety and provide positive tactile stimulation
A themed book, weighted blanket, and other items.
Toniebox Kits and Yoto Players/Cards
Tonieboxes are digital audio book players for kids with no screens. The players use Tonies or character figurines, which when placed on the Toniebox, will play stories, songs and more. The library loans out both the Toniebox player as well as the individual Tonies / stories. We have several kits available to borrow. All of these kits are available to borrow through our Library of Things. Search through the catalog for Toniebox, select the kit you want and place a reservation for an available day to pick up!
We also have Yoto Players in our Library of Things and individual Yoto Cards to borrow. Yoto Players are another screen free audio player, which can play varieties of stories, songs and more. The library also has a collection of Yoto cards available to borrow separately at our front desk. Visit our Tonie and Yoto Page for all the details.
Story Time Kits
Can’t make it to story time in person? No problem - we now offer take-home story time kits. Each kit has a different them (family, pets, superheroes, etc.) and comes with a book and materials for a craft. Both the book and the craft match the theme of the kit. These kits are available in the children’s room and can be checked out whenever they are available. More themes and kits will become available as time goes on :)
VOX Books
Our children's department is offers a unique book format for families: Vox Books. Vox Books are audio books that live in print books. The permanently attached VOX Reader transforms an ordinary print book into an all-in-one read-along. All kids need to do is press a button to play the recording and then turn the pages along with the reading. These books are available in our children’s room and can be borrowed at any time they are available.
