Friends
of Ramsey Library: FORL
FORL meets at 7:30 p.m., the 4th
Wednesday of the month. We welcome volunteers. Please join us.
FORL's generous gifts enable a wonderful
variety of children's programs. FORL is the primary sponsor of the Summer Reading Clubs. Thank you!
FORL also presents all of the cultural arts programming for adults
offered at the library throughout the year. All programs begin at 2 p.m. FORL programs are always free and
open to the public The FORL Book Sales
are held in April and October. Kindly remember: No
textbooks, No magazines, No encyclopedias, and NO MILDEW. If you
wouldn't want to buy it yourself, simply recycle it at home.
Only FORL members may attend the book sale previews on Friday evening
prior to the sale. Donations to FORL are tax deductible. Thanks for your support!
Please remember to send in your FORL 2009 annual membership dues.
Applications will be mailed to every household in Ramsey just before the
end of 2008. Our fundraising cycle begins
in late fall with
the mailing of FORL's membership application. The FORL
brochures should be in your mailbox just before the winter holiday season begin, in time for year-end tax deductions.
If you did not receive yours, come to the library. We have more
brochures available at the circulation desk. Thank you! |

Friends Support the Library
The annual Summer Reading Club and imaginative youth
services programs at the library are made possible by FORL donations supported
by your membership. Babies and toddlers are entranced by storytimes. Ramsey kids
enjoy workshops on magic, cartooning, beading and puppetry. They create seasonal
crafts and holiday cards. Teens now celebrate the start of every month with
First Friday events, many based on food themes. We've hosted a "best pizza"
contest and a chocolate fondue tasting. Yoga is popular for all ages. And, of
course, everyone reads!
Our media collections grow thanks to the generosity of
FORL. You, your family and neighbors benefit directly from FORL gifts. As we
plan for the library's future, FORL will be there.
Beautifully illustrated picture books, stories with
read-along CDs for children, popular fiction and "how-to" titles for adults all
help to enhance the variety of choices at the library. FORL donations will
support the growth of our Korean language collections in 2008. We will soon add
more Chinese cinema and Bollywood films on DVD.
In 2007 FORL purchased a disc cleaning and repair system
to help the library maintain popular media collections.
The Ramsey Library trustees are working with borough
officials to develop the renovation concepts outlined in the library's Strategic
Plan. FORL members continue to be partners in the process. We all believe in the
importance of the library to our community, enabling us to work together for the
library's future. Recent technology upgrades include wireless reception
throughout the building Early literacy learning stations offer educational games
in the children's area. There is expanded parking behind the library thanks to
the Borough of Ramsey. Follow the library's progress in the local papers and our
email newsletters. Make sure the library has your email address so you can keep
up with the latest programs and services. In 2008 we will continue to work
together toward our goal of a 21st century library.
